Cultural Heritage & Archaeology

High-resolution digital documentation for research, interpretation, conservation and long-term heritage records.

Industry challenge

Capture subtle evidence without reducing a site to a conventional map

Archaeological and heritage sites often contain small terrain forms, structures beneath vegetation and spatial relationships that are difficult to document with conventional field mapping alone. The survey must preserve geometry at a useful level of detail while remaining interpretable by archaeologists and conservation specialists.

MapSoft uses UAV, LiDAR, photogrammetry, terrain modelling and structured spatial outputs to create a measurable digital record of the site. The geospatial result supports specialist interpretation; it does not replace archaeological or conservation expertise.

MapSoft

One industry context. Two engineering pillars.

Geospatial Data

Spatial evidence for the real environment

  • UAV LiDAR and imagery for detailed site capture, including areas where vegetation limits conventional visual interpretation.
  • Dense point clouds, high-resolution orthophotos and terrain models for microrelief analysis and specialist mapping.
  • 3D and topographic outputs that preserve site geometry for research, comparison, documentation and future monitoring.
Software Engineering

Systems around users and operations

  • Where a project requires long-term access, MapSoft software capabilities can organize spatial data, imagery, attributes and documents in GIS or web environments.
  • Structured data and web/3D viewing can extend the value of survey products for professional teams and public presentation when that is part of the assignment.
Typical outcomes

What the work should enable.

01

Preserved spatial record

A measurable digital state of terrain and visible or concealed site features.

02

Better interpretation

Terrain models and visualizations help specialists examine patterns that are difficult to see in the field.

03

Repeatable comparison

Consistent spatial products create a reference for later campaigns or condition monitoring.

04

Flexible delivery

Orthophoto, DTM, point cloud, 3D and GIS-ready outputs can be combined around the research objective.
